Zach talks about the importance of determination and shooting your shots...

I got into cyber… by enlisting in the U.S. Air Force right after high school. Cyber Systems was on my short list of jobs shared with my recruiter, and an opening was available, so I took it!

The skill that set me up for success… would have to be determination. Cyber is a large encompassing career field, it is both complex and incredibly important work. So being successful meant overcoming the learning curves, and the mistakes, and being committed to the vision of being a cyber professional.

My top tip to those interested in transitioning to a career in cybersecurity is… to learn in passing a bit about everything you can in the space. I believe interest is a vital factor in success. By finding what interests you most, you therefore will increase your determination and drive to pursue that very thing.

I would tell my younger self… to keep shooting your shots.
