See It To Be It Spotlight
General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT)
Operations Director - Homeland Security Sector

I got into cyber through…Cyber found me! I do not consider myself a technical expert, nor is it my passion, and yet we live in a digitalized world where cyber threats and opportunities are ubiquitous.
I found my way into cyber working in national security and was recruited by an executive who offered me an incredible opportunity to work outside of my comfort zone in a cyber mission-focused role for the first time. It was a whirlwind and one of the best decisions I made because it unlocked a network that has led to every other opportunity I received.
For me, a positive cyber mindset is…If you don’t consider yourself to be a technical SME, do not be deterred or intimidated. There are so many layers to the full spectrum of cyber that require strategic thinkers, risk managers, geopolitical experts, and decisive leaders that do not always require strong technical expertise. Anyone who ignores cyber as a risk at any level is living in the dark ages and vulnerable to disruption.
The skill that helped me transition to a career in cyber is…an open mind. There is a ton of creativity in cyberspace that can be used for good or evil, and there is a lot of gray space to innovate.
I would tell my younger self…My perceived career setbacks were all part of a greater plan and taught me some of the hardest life lessons many of my peers haven’t learned yet. Trust the process. Trust that you will always figure it out.
The biggest influencer(s) in my life and career are…I am grateful to have a personal “board” of executive mentors and peers I can call whenever I am facing a new challenge or have to make hard decisions.
I also love country music and find artists like Lainey Wilson (who is my age) inspiring while down to Earth. Beyond her music, her relentless motivation to achieve the highest honors in her industry while carrying herself with pure kindness, yet a total powerhouse, brings me endless inspiration.
My recommended read is…Callsign Chaos by General Jim Mattis and Bing West.
What I thought I wanted to be when I grew up was…I’ll let you know when I achieve it. 😊
My favorite place is…anywhere on the water with summer weather.
My inspiration is…American patriotism.
Something few people know about me is…I was identified as gifted in the visual arts and went to art school for years growing up.
What I most want to be remembered for is…elevating others, especially other women.
