I got into cyber …because a leader I worked for recognized that I enjoy solving complex problems and asked me to support a cyber client my firm was working with.

I approached the complex problem of cyber by building a diverse team at Guidehouse with backgrounds in cyber but also IT, data, communications, customer experience. It takes all kinds to help with this multifaceted mission.

For me, a positive cyber mindset is…knowing it takes all kinds to help tackle the challenges cybersecurity brings.There’s a place for everyone.

The skill that helped me transition to a career in cyber is…change management!

It’s an unorthodox answer compared to hard technical skills and certifications, but cybersecurity is ultimately about enabling and motivating more secure behaviors – and understanding the psychology and change behaviors of what would make an individual or organization act in more secure ways is extremely helpful.
